Jagnas’ LIGA ng mga Barangay, municipal officials, heads of offices and selected functionaries conducted a benchmarking and capability building activity in Metro Manila, Rizal, Nueva Ecija and Benguet on July 6-10. Headed by Mayor Exuperio Lloren and LIGA President Andrew Tadena, the said 5-day activity was aimed at exposing the participants to the different Best Practices of selected LGUs and analyzing at how their success stories contribute to LGUs growth and progress particularly in agriculture development vis a vis organic farming. The Jagna visiting team headed first to the municipality of Baras, Rizal, known as the first organic town in the Philippines, where LGU-Baras Mayor Mayor Wilfredo Robles personally welcomed them. The team was given an in-depth presentation and analysis of the LGU’s public policy framework, various activities in the promotion of organic farming, networking strategies and LGU interventions in the successful implementation of their organic farming project. The on-site visit to the organic vegetable production area of Baras, Rizal offered valuable information to the Jagna visitors who kept on exchanging notes being novel advocates in organic farming back home. While Jagna has been implementing technology demonstration on hybrid rice production using Palay Check System, the team paid a visit at the Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice) which is considered a model research agency, a center of excellence, and a world-class research institution in Muñoz City, Nueva Ecija.

111th INDEPENDENCE DAY IN JAGNA: The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Jagna celebrated the 111th Independence Day Anniversary on June 12, 2009 over simple but momentous celebration. National and LGU Offices led by the Elected Officials offered flowers to the portrait of Capt. Gregorio “Goyo” Caseñas, Jagna’s local hero who fought against the Americans but eventually died due to a friend’s deceitfulness on an Easter Sunday of 1901 in barangay Lonoy of this town. Members of Jagna’s 6th Sangguniang Bayan (SB) pose after the wreath laying (from extreme left) include Hons. Jesus Acedillo, Pacheco Rances, Senen Lloren, Alberto Cabrestante, Godofredo Okit and SB Staff

To stump out nefarious practices of public officials that menaced society and worsens the situation of the government bureaucracy system Republic Act (RA) 9485 or the Anti Red Tape Act of 2007 seminar workshop of all barangay officials on June 17 meant a lot. Held in staggered schedules the officials of the 33 barangays here are to converge at the Capt. Goyo Casenas hall alike in the whole duration. Municipal Local Government Operations Officer (MLGOO) Reina A. Quilas and Liga President Andrew G. Tadena worked hardly for the success of this moral formation activity.
