| SMART DONATES 2 PCs TO JAGNA MUNICIPAL LIBRARY |

The country’s leading wireless services provider Smart Communications Inc. (Smart) turned over two new computer units to the Jagna Municipal Library and Information Center on May 27, 2009. The said donation is part of the company’s corporate social responsibility and commitment in strengthening community service initiatives on various fronts. The generous act likewise hinted the start of a forge partnership between the local government unit (LGU) of Jagna and Smart in terms of education and information technology (IT). “Although information can still be read in books in the library, other equally important facts can now be accessed through the internet,” said Smart Public Affairs Manager for Visayas-Mindanao Atty. Jane Paredes. “Your Municipal Library can now be a collaborator with Jagna Central Elementary School (JCES) of this town through our Doon Po sa Amin (DPSA) Learning Challenge which will soon be launched in Bohol,” Atty. Paredes added. She further informed that DPSA is a SMART Schools Program to generate rich local content for the World Wide Web such as posting colorful stories, legends, local history and anything about the community using Internet technologies. Once DPSA starts to operate in July, 2009, JCES and the Municipal Library can be associates in the integration of information and communications technology in education. The DPSA Learning Challenge also strengthens the “Internet for All” advocacy of SMART, which hopes to create an environment that will make the internet relevant and widely accessible to more and more Jagnaanons all over the globe. Vice Mayor Teofisto Pagar, Sr. who represented Mayor Exuperio Lloren personally received the two computer units from Atty. Paredes who were accompanied by Smart Senior Supervisor Mr. Edgardo Albay, Engr. Marino Romerde of Smart- Tagbilaran City, Public Affairs Staff Ms. Lourdes Gocotano and writer/documentor Ms.Amy Salgados. Mr. Avel Acedo, a Jagnaanon who now works in Smart-Makati City main office was also instrumental in the realization of the said computers. Jagna Municipal Librarian-in-charge Mr. Catalino Berro wrote a project proposal to the said IT company a year ago. It was Mr. Acedo who made a follow through. As a sign of heartfelt appreciation for the corporate philanthropy, Jagna’s 6th Sangguniang Bayan Councilor and Public Information Committee Chairman Hon. Alberto Café is sponsoring a resolution of gratitude to Smart and Mr. Avel Acedo.
