PVC CAFÉ ATTENDS VETERANS 61st SUPREME COUNCIL SUMMIT PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 21 May 2009
Philippine Veterans Commander (PVC) Alberto Café represented fellow veterans of Bohol’s 3rd District to the Supreme Council 61st Regular Meeting at the Veterans Center in Taguig City on May 16-17.

PVC Café who just received his appointment from Region VII Vice President Democrito Mendoza as the new 3rd Bohol Veterans District Commander on March 23, 2009 vice Consuelo Bernido who is now incapacitated hence his urgent attendance to the summit.
Addressing before the said summit was the Secretary of National Defense and presidentiable Gilberto Teodoro, Jr. who urged federation members to ask Congress to advocate and pass legislation that would perpetuate the Veterans Federation of the Philippines (VFP) in the future and provide stable and solid source of income to support government’s welfare programs for the veterans.
He said that although the US Congress passed the Stimulus Package which benefited Filipino veterans who fought side-by-side with the American soldiers in World War II, “a lot remains to be done” to get what the veterans rightfully deserve for their service and sacrifices.
He added that the major issue facing the veterans’ organization now is how to make the power of the veterans felt in view of the modern-day requirements and to have a stable and solid source of income so that the government can take care of the Filipino veterans.
The Supreme Council is the highest ruling body of the VFP and was presided over by its President Emmanuel de Ocampo.
PVC Café who currently sits as a member of Jagna’s 6th Sangguniang Bayan was accompanied by fellow Bohol Veterans Commanders Venerando Dumadag and Filomeno Ocmil of the 1st and 2nd districts respectively.
