LGU-JAGNA STANDS UP AGAINST POVERTY: In answer to a worldwide United Nation’s anti-poverty campaign promoting the attainment of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) Mayor Exuperio C. Lloren (inset) leads the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Jagna officials and employees in their pledge to stand up against poverty on Monday after the weekly flag-raising ceremony at the municipal grounds.
 

Through the Stand Up Campaign, the United Nations continuously reminds governments and leaders of the promises they’ve made to achieve the MDGs, most especially poverty reduction. This year’s theme is "Kumilos, Manindigan! Labanan ang Kahirapan!"
 
LGU-Jagna is one of the MDG pilot areas of Bohol which embodies commitments to achieve the MDGs, a set of time-bound and measurable targets for combating poverty, hunger, disease, environmental degradation and discrimination by 2015.

These goals are: eradicate extreme poverty and hunger; achieve universal primary education; promote gender equality and empower women; reduce child mortality; improve maternal health; combat HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases; ensure environmental sustainability and; develop a global partnership for development.
