![]() A monogram (JHS) which the antique statue of the Risen Christ holds (left) is interpreted as "Jesus, Savior of Men". This has been used since the seventh century sending the powerful message of a well accomplished mission of Christ on earth - man’s redemption! In Jagna, the centuries old drama of the Sugat or the reunion between the Joyful Mother and Her Risen Son which was celebrated at 4:00 o’clock early this morning brought early parishioners together at the designated galilea (hugusan) a four-corner concrete structure forming an apex located just across the St. Michael the Archangel Parish Church. Part of the ritual is the crowning of the joyful image of the Blessed Virgin by a little boy dressed up like an angel while singing the traditional hymn Regina Caeli Laetare. Jagna Parish Priest Msgr. Orencio Jubac, E.V. (center in soutane) in his monition said that Jesus' crucifixion and resurrection are God's provision for the perfect and final sacrifice for man's sins. Because of Christ’s resurrection, we will all be resurrected one day. However, the quality of life that we will experience in the hereafter will be based on how well we have repented of our sins and followed the teachings of Christ. (file photo MPIO) |
