The thirty three members of the Jagna Liga nga Barangay along with their respective secretaries attended the one-day orientation seminar on Barangay Civil Registration System (BCRS) at the Capt. Gregorio Ceseñas on Thursday. The activity was spearheaded by the Local Government Unit of Jagna through the Civil Registrar’s Office in coordination with the Bohol National Statistics Office. Jagna Local Civil Registrar (LCR), Ms. Ma. Lovella Escolano-Acebes informed the Liga members that the BRCS seminar was aimed at orienting the Punong Barangays and the barangay secretaries being extensions of the LCR in the registration of births, deaths and marriages and other civil registry documents which will be done directly in the barangay. It likewise aimed at raising awareness at the grassroots on the importance of civil registration and may hope to address distance problem which eventually cause the delay in registering births, deaths and marriages. Resource speakers from NSO-Bohol were Provincial Statistics Officer Jessamyn Anne Alcazaren, and Statistical Coordination Officers Glenda Escabusa and Jocelyn Sarmiento. They discussed the proper implementation of Republic Act 3753 or the Civil Registry Law, the results of 2007 Census of Population and Overview of Barangay Registration System. Meanwhile, Jagna is already implementing the BREQS User which offers offline issuance of NSO authenticated birth, death, marriage certificates and CENOMAR. Jagna Local Civil Registrar Ms. Ma.
