Close to 1,500 confirmation candidates received the Sacrament of Confirmation under the anointing hands of the Bishop of the Diocese of Talibon, Most Rev. Christian Vincent Noel, and D.D. at the St. Michael the Archangel Parish Church on July 25. Through the said Sacrament, the confirmed candidates are now received as full-pledged members of the Catholic Church, entrusted with the mission of Christ and empowered by His Holy Spirit. In his monition, Bishop Noel highlighted the role of the Holy Spirit as a guiding wind for every Christian’s journey through life and as the “breath” or life-force of God within us. He likewise invited the confirmands whose age ranged from nine years old above as well as their parents or sponsors to listen to the voice of the Spirit who will guide them in following the will of God in their lives. Jagna Parish Priest Msgr. Orencio Jubac, E.V. reported that earlier and month-long preparations made before the confirmation rites included a range of activities like social awareness and information workshops to parents and sponsors and the administration of the sacrament of reconciliation to the candidates in their respective schools. Confirmation is the second sacrament of initiation whereby the baptized person receives the seal of the Holy Spirit. The sacramental grace that one receives allows the person to believe and profess the Catholic faith with courage. It is a sacrament that makes the person more perfect and a Soldier of Christ. ![]() Rite of Confirmation Bishop Christian Vicente Noel, D.D. gives a candidate for confirmation a slight blow on the cheek saying: "peace be with you" after he generally imposes his hands while praying that the Holy Ghost may come down upon those who have already been regenerated.
